HF Radio Networks in Australia
All of the below provide access to RFDS and 24/7 emergency contact with their bases. Mobile to mobile contact is also permitted on their frequencies. Information below is taken from their individual websites. All networks will require type-approved HF transceivers (e.g. Codan, Barrett). Amateur Radio equipment is not type-approved for use on these networks.
- VKS-737 Radio Network – 7 HF frequencies, 11 bases.
- Austravel Safety Net – 32 HF frequencies, 7 bases.
- HF Radio Club – 9 HF frequencies with 4 bases (for outback and marine users).
- Australian HF Touring Club – new HF group with 5 bases, 19 frequencies.
